Susan Hayden - RVN

Susan Hayden

Susan is from Dublin, Ireland. She had been living and working as a vet nurse in London for 4.5 years before moving to Bournemouth in July 2018 with her fiance and little boy, Thomas, seeking a more chilled life by the sea and to be closer to some family. After finishing school, she did a one year animal care/veterinary assistance course and then went on to study Veterinary nursing at UCD, Dublin for 3 years. She qualified in 2010 with a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing and after a year decided to go traveling Asia and Australia for one year. Susan has been nursing since 2006 and has worked in a number of practices in Ireland, Australia and England mainly in small animal hospitals, she has held head nurse role in DSPCA private clinic for a few months, has held a sole nurse role and has worked as a senior nurse in a referral hospital in London for 2 years.

Susan joined the Natterjacks team in October 2018, part-time after a year of maternity leave with her son. Susan absolutely loves being mainly with her little boy and watching him grow but is also really enjoying being back at work, she loves working with animals and chatting to clients but her main area of interest in veterinary is anaesthesia and surgery, she would love to do some further study in this area at some point. Susan has no pets as being a mother keeps her busy enough at the moment! She had a few pets including her family pet Bob, the labrador cross who sadly passed away in 2017 at almost 15 years old and is sadly missed, she has also had a tortoise and a chinchilla!!

Susan loves to travel (she wants to see as much of the world as possible!). She loves music, festivals, comedy, hiking, exercising (gym classes – anything to keep her active! -power pump, circut training, zumba, aerobics etc.) She did boxing training for 2 years in Dublin and a little bit in London and absolutely loved it but for fitness only! She learned to horse ride at the age of 26 after qualifying as a vet nurse as she loved working with horses so much.

Susan is getting married this year to her fiance who also works in the veterinary industry. Her fiance is Greek/English, grew up in Athens so they visit beautiful Greece every year and get to enjoy the beautiful beaches and cuisine there. She also visits Ireland on a very regular basis to see her family and friends.
