Zara Cullum

Zara is currently in her second year of the FdSc Veterinary Nursing Science degree at Sparsholt, with the hope of becoming a Registered Veterinary Nurse in the summer of 2023. She has recently joined Natterjacks to complete her training and learn what is needed as a Student Veterinary Nurse.

Previous veterinary experience includes working in a referral practice called Southern Counties as a Veterinary Care Assistant in which she was there for almost four years.

As well as being a student, Zara works part-time as a Catering Assistant at Marwell Wildlife so she always likes to keep a busy schedule!

As far as hobbies is concerned, Zara is a keen football player. She competes in a women’s 11-a-side team as well as 5-a-side. Other hobbies and interests include photography, reading and relaxing watching TV shows (fantasy and those cheesy teenage shows are her favourites admittedly!)

One of Zara’s big loves are her furry companions. At home, there is Shakira who is a 10-year-old Domestic Short Hair and two Bengal X brothers called Timba and Chester who joined the family in August 2020 as tiny, energetic eight-week-old kittens!  Zara always spends her spare time with them, whether it be lounging on the sofa or playing with their favourite toys (the good old ‘foil ball’ or the springs – which follows by the daily chore of finding them under the sofa!) As well as these, Zara also has a Leopard Gecko who loves to sit and watch out of her tank!

When it comes to aspirations, Zara just wants to help take care of those pets we all call family. She does not quite know where life will lead her. She hopes to visit South Africa in 2023 with the university to gain even more experience with African mammals. This is a career that has been building for many years and she is looking forward to the future.
