Hope Winn - RVN

I’ve lived in Bournemouth my entire life and a year ago moved in with my partner in ferndown. The area is full of wildlife and I love to hear the birds sing in the morning. I do miss the hustle and bustle of busy Bournemouth but am looking forward to exploring more of the local Poole area at the Poole branch.

I’ve always known I wanted to work with animals, although I thought I wanted to be a vet in the beginning, I soon changed my mind to wanting to be a nurse when I gained more work experience. I started working/helping out in veterinary practices from the age of 10 to 21. I would sweep the floors, walk the dogs etc. I did my 2 weeks of work experience in a veterinary practice and kept working in them until I got accepted into the Royal Veterinary college in London. I got to my 2nd year at uni but unfortunately didn’t make the cut to continue on to complete my nursing.

I then went into childcare and got my level 3 diploma, before returning to nursing at the PDSA charity hospital Bournemouth for 8 years, where I completed my diploma in Veterinary Nursing and finally got the title of a Registered Veterinary Nurse in June 2019.

I decided to move over to Natterjacks as I heard so much about the wonderful work they do, the friendly team and to experience some different species and veterinary techniques to further my career in nursing.

I’m a bit of a foodie. I love trying new foods or making up new recipes/meals. I even enjoy a good food challenge at times too, although I still haven’t managed to complete the 24/hr 10,000 calorie food only challenge, despite getting very close at 9,800 calories

I love going on walks either down the beach or anywhere woody. Nature and wildlife rescue are something I love and if there’s any animal (or insect) in need I’m sure to be there.

Animals have been a massive passion of mine ever since I could walk. I would always be saving the frogspawn from the fish in my grandparents pond, or getting eggs off the chickens.

I can’t wait to see what my future brings.
