What’s A Natterjack?
The Natterjack toad is an extremely rare amphibian in the UK but it thrives on the sandy, heathland environments which are unique to the local area. A number of nature reserves have been set up dedicated to their preservation – a well-known example is the Natterjack pond on Hengistbury Head but you may also encounter them on St Catherine’s Hill, in the New Forest or on Canford Heath. It is a colourful, noisy character and seemed a good mascot for the new practice!
